The Friends of Silverburn Park (FOSP) is a constituted group of volunteers set up to assist with the development of the Park and has two roles:
· To represent the views of the local community to the Board of Directors.
· To support the achievement of the Vision for Silverburn Park, by getting involved through volunteering in a variety of roles.
With membership (fee applicable), you will be asked to assist with representing the views of the local community and consulted on redevelopment plans as well as advising on future projects.
You will have the opportunity to take part in various activities and projects through volunteering. Public Consultation identified several projects including renovating the Pond and building a Wildlife Hide, both of which are complete. Creating a Picnic/Barbecue Area was also requested and FOSP have contributed to these which are located across the park. Playpark facilities were also a priority and FOSP have been taking this forward. Six Playpark companies were approached for options and a favoured contractor identified. The location of the playpark is still under consideration due to the impact of the Mill redevelopment but is likely to be within the North Paddock. (The field on the right as you enter the park.)
FOSP have been fundraising for the playpark and have raised over £10,000, however the cost is likely to be nearer £300,000 so the park Board have been requested to assist with external funding.
You may prefer to be involved in general gardening and maintenance work or help at events that FOSP may identify and organise such as Craft Days, Family Fun Days etc. or assist with the Pop-Up shops that run over the summer months. You can opt in to as many or as few volunteering opportunities as you like.
