GROWING project

With 27-acres of gardens and woodlands, we have lots of space to grow produce in the Park, harvest it, prepare it and cook it in our café, providing nutritious meals for volunteers and paying customers.  Training is provided in every element of our seed-to-plate programme, contact us to learn more.

Get hands-on with your Park

We have 2 sensory gardens within a large walled garden, and an abundance of unusual species of trees at Silverburn. The gardens require constant attention to keep them beautiful and eye-catching and we welcome volunteers to support with this work during all seasons of the year.  There are some opportunities to gain further qualifications for those volunteering with a view to improving their CV.  Get in touch if you'd like to join in.

Help to deliver the community action plan for Silverburn

An independent group of people who have a passion for the Park and support us with delivering on community activities and fundraising. Join the Committee or get involved hands-on with delivering their action plan. Visit their facebook page for further details.

The Friends are taking forward the action plan from the community consultation carried out in 2017 and 2018.  Activities include planning installation of a wildlife hide, running astronomy sessions and delivering a fun day during 2019.

We have also now added a picnic bench to the main garden area in the Park and have received a contribution of £960 from the Ramblers Holidays Charitable Trust to improve the signage in the Park, which also was a request from the community consultation.

Events of all sizes

We organise some large events each year at the Park and always welcome volunteers to help with a range of event management tasks from publicity to car park marshalling to being our mascot!

There are also a number of smaller events throughout the year, and we'd welcome a hand with organising these, as well as help on the day of the event.
