BRIAN ROBERTSON
It is with deep sadness we have to report the sudden passing of Brian Robertson in February 2023.
Brian has been the driving force behind developments in the Park in recent years, whilst officially he was the Chair of our organisation, he also got hands-on doing everything from installing CCTV cameras to event stewarding to strategic planning and project management.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family. We have been inundated with tributes from those who knew him and whilst this is a such a sad time for Fife Employment Access Trust and everyone connected with the organisation, it makes our resolve stronger to ensure the flax mill project comes to fruition to honour his commitment to the cause and achieve the end goal he so dearly wanted to see.
His legacy will live on in Silverburn Park.
Brian retired from the Army in 2004 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 27 years’ service in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers as an Infantry Officer, Technical Staff Officer and Information Systems Specialist. He was subsequently self-employed for 10 years as a freelance Project Manager in IT and Business Change.
He held an MA in History from St Andrews University and an MSc in Design of Information Systems from Cranfield University and was a qualified PRINCE2 and Managing Success Programmes Practitioner.
Brian moved to Leven in 2012 and got involved at Silverburn because he frequently walked his dogs through the Park and thought it was a great shame that the Park had been neglected. He joined the Board in February 2016 and was appointed Chair late that year. Brian was a keen hillwalker and completed his personal challenge of bagging all 282 Munros in 2018.
Brian Robertson, was given the posthumous honour of Trustee of the Year in the Fife Voluntary Action Awards 2023.
Members of Brian's family joined staff at the event to collect the richly-deserved award, presented by Provost of Fife, Jim Leishman MBE.
Brian is survived by a wife and two sons.
